Today, the Handsome and I had the opportunity to provide photography coverage for Union Gospel Mission’s annual Easter meal. It was incredible to see the amount of volunteers who gave up their time to come work alongside UGM’s staff to tirelessly serve hundreds of meals to the crowds of people coming through their door!
“Thousands of men, women, and families – many of whom are face-to-face with homelessness, poverty, and addiction- were warmly welcomed through our doors, greeted with live music, and uplifted by a handwritten note on their table. Thanks to you, guests feasted on a hearty meal: ham and pineapple sauce, veggies, mashed potatoes, and a slice of apple pie!” (from the UGM Facebook Page)
Did you know UGM provides hundreds of meals every day for people in the downtown east side? They also run life recovery programs, provide education and job preparation, as well as assist with affordable housing.
UGM is a non-profit organization that is passionate about seeing communities transformed by “overcoming poverty, homelessness, and addiction, one life at a time”. To learn more about their work or to support them by donating/volunteering, visit their website!
